Electric planes are slowly edging their way out of science fiction and into the real world.

At the International Paris Air Show, Israel-based Eviation Aircraft revealed the first prototype of its all-electric airplane, called the Alice Commuter, which is claimed to have a range of up to 600 miles at almost 280mph.

If Eviation can stick to that timeline then the progress in electronic aviation is nothing short of staggering. Just two years ago, Icelandic airline Wow Air ran an April Fool's day joke about it launching an all-electric.

The Israeli army has released a video purportedly showing its air force targeting three Syrian military installations after at least 10 "errant" projectiles fired from Syria landed in Israel-controlled territory.

It is believed the fire was not aimed at Israeli targets and was the result of fighting in Syria, where the President Assad's troops are battling Islamist militants in Quneitra province, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, on Saturday (24 June).

A British teenager who beat a jogger to death and then boasted about how he dragged him down the street by his genitals has been jailed for 19 years.

Nathan Richardson, 19, pleaded guilty to the murder of 67-year-old Chinese national Wen Qing Xu while he went for a morning run on New Years Day.

Richardson had been taking a cocktail of drink and drugs at a New Year's Eve party Eversleigh St, Preston, when he crossed paths with Xu in the Plungington area.

In a seemingly unprovoked and violent attack, Richardson then kicked and stamped on Xu, causing "extensive and catastrophic injuries" which Lancashire Police describe as some of the worse they've ever seen.
