Improving Ad Relevancy: Content Optimization


Optimizing your webpage for showing only relevant ads is important in maximizing the Adsense performance on your site. It is well known that the ads that are closely related to the content of the webpage have a greater chance of being clicked, thus improving your overall CTR. Assuming that there is a pool of ads in Google's database for the topic of your webpage, there are a few things you can do tell Google what your page is about, so that, the ads that are served are highly targeted. Stressing it in this way will improve the relevancy of the ads generated on your webpages and improved relevancy will result in an improved CTR.
Now these are a few that you should be doing to optimize your page for Ad relevancy:
  • Include the primary keywords of the page content in your page title
  • Include the primary keywords of the page content in your Meta Keywords tag
  • Include the primary keywords of the page content in your Meta Description tag
  • Include the primary keywords of the page content in H1 tags on the page, supplemented H2 tags
  • Put the primary key words in Bold or Italic tags a couple of times in your page content
  • A link to your home page with the keyword anchor text
  • Make sure in include your primary keywords in your webpage file name also (if possible)
In addition to the above Google "Section Targeting", to explicitly inform the Google Bot about the primary content sections of your page.
These are some of the standard SEO (Search Engine Optimization) technique which not only improve the Ad relevancy, but also improve the chance of having high Google Page Rank for your web page the keywords you targeted, there increasing targeted organic traffic for your site.
