R – read the
question properly. The first thing you need to do when you are faced with a
problem in mathematics is to read the question properly. Some take the wrong
step by not doing this. The instructions for the examination must be well read.
U – Understand
the question. You are also expected to understand the question before going
ahead to solve it. You must know what you are expected to do. You must know
whether you are finding an unknown or simplifying.
TH – think of a
principle to use. There will always be a principle in mathematics which you
learnt to solve the problem. But you have to think of what it will be. You
should think of what the solution will look like.
S - Solve the
question. You are to proceed and use the principle to solve the question.
Please write the correct answer to get the correct mark. I hope you will begin
to use this principle appropriately.
